The new elementary school at Oberlin City Schools is a fantastic showcase for what casework brings to the look of a new school. TDA Architecture designed this new building with Greenspace Construction acting as the construction manager. This new building consolidated two older elementary schools within the district and opened its doors to students in September of 2021. Farnham Equipment Company (FEC) was awarded contracts to deliver and install educational casework, bleachers, and athletic equipment for the new building.

Educational casework from Stevens Industries, Inc. (Stevens Advantage) is displayed throughout the new building. Vibrant primary colors are featured for the countertops in the classrooms, media center, music, and art rooms as a complement to the neutral woodgrain cabinet finish. In addition, FEC also provided custom millwork for the reception desk in the main office of the new school.

The gymnasium in the new school features athletic equipment from Performance Sports Systems (PSS). Basketball backstops, wall safety pads, and a gym divider curtain were installed by FEC.  An electronic scoreboard from Nevco and portable ‘tip-n-roll” aluminum bleachers from National Recreations Systems (NRS) were also provided. These portable bleachers allow for ease and flexibility for seating throughout the gymnasium. The non-marring wheels allow the bleachers to be relocated within the space easily and can be placed in an upright position when needing additional space.

This new school at Oberlin City Schools showcases the use of bright color highlight finishes in an elementary school setting. Stevens Advantage casework continues to be the “go-to” product for Architects and specifiers for the educational marketplace. And, FEC’s expert in-house installation team continues to be a great provider of this casework for jobs throughout the state of Ohio.
