Firelands Local Schools constructed a new 6-12 building for their district in 2021, working with Greenspace Construction Services and BSHM Architects for project management and architectural services. Along the way, Farnham Equipment Company (FEC) received contracts to provide multiple scopes of work for this new project. The project reached its culmination in the summer of 2022 when the doors were opened for the new 2023 school year.

FEC provided telescopic seating solutions in two separate areas of the new school. In the gymnasium, two banks of telescopic bleachers were provided through Hussey Seating Company (HSC). The two banks provide nearly 600 seats for spectators to watch basketball or volleyball events, with flexibility for wheelchair patrons through flex-row seating. In the middle school gymnasium, FEC installed a wall-attached bleacher system that includes 409 seats and is fitted with Metro Chairs for auditorium performances held in the gymnasium. This telescopic system creates a dynamic and flexible solution to watching theater performances while allowing for free gymnasium space when the bleachers are closed.

Back in the main gymnasium, athletic equipment from Gared Performance Sports (PSS) is littered throughout. Basketball backstops, volleyball equipment, and custom wall padding with the phrase “Falcons” bring the gymnasium alive for use as a multi-purpose facility. Additionally, a motorized flag allows for a convenient solution to raise and lower the American Flag as needed.

The finished product at Firelands high school demonstrates the all-in-one package FEC offers for customers. Between gymnasium seating, auditorium spaces, and athletic equipment, FEC’s capabilities allow for a great solution to create, renovate, or upgrade the gymnasium and theater spaces.
