Logan Elm Local Schools looked to upgrade its district by building a new K-12 facility to house nearly 1,700 students for the 2023 school year. Partnering with Fanning Howey Architects for design and Summit Construction for construction management, the school had its work cut out for them to try and deliver before the school year. During this process, Farnham Equipment Company (FEC) received awards for installing and delivering multiple scopes of work to the new building.

Beginning in the main gymnasium, telescopic bleachers from Hussey Seating Company (HSC) were delivered and installed by the FEC team. Between the two banks of seating, over 1,000 spectators can sit comfortably in red courtside seats while enjoying a great atmosphere for athletics. An additional middle school gymnasium contained a singular bank of seating for 300-plus spectators as well. Within the gymnasium, Gared Performance Sports (PSS) provided basketball backstops, roll-up divider curtains,  and volleyball equipment to the site.

Walking down the main corridor past the gymnasium, a new theater space was built with flexible seating through HSC. This wall-attached bleacher system includes 18 rows of seating, with fixed Metro Chairs on each aisle to provide a flexible auditorium seating option for the school. In total, nearly 500 seats were provided for the theater space. Over the last few years, schools have found this unique application of telescopic seating both cost-effective and appealing for its flexible option to recover space when the theater is not being used for events.

This new K-12 school at Logan Elm is a great opportunity for FEC to showcase its flexible seating options through Hussey Seating Company. Through careful design assistance and upfront budgetary assistance, FEC provided the school with a great vision of what their space could be utilized for. The opportunity to package athletic equipment through PSS made FEC an attractive option for multiple scopes of work at Logan Elm. The project underwent multiple hurdles to open in the fall, with FEC’s project management team working alongside Summit to ensure the scopes were covered to the school’s satisfaction.
