Project Overview
Lake Local High School had collaborated with Farnham Equipment Company (FEC) for several years, most notably on the upgrades of the home outdoor grandstands at Blue Streak Stadium. This project, handled back in 2019, included new aluminum frame structure upgrades, concrete footers, and additional mid-aisle handrails with intermediate aisle steps. The school was thrilled with the outcome of this project, and when it came time to make similar upgrades to the visitors’ side, the district knew exactly who to call.
The parameters of the project mirrored the 2019 home grandstands project – installing new aluminum angle frame structures to replace the visitors’ side structure. This included the removal and re-use of the existing planks, risers, and seats on the bleacher. Additionally, it would require reinstallation of existing decking, riser, seat planks, and guard rails after the new aluminum structure had been installed. Additional items for ADA compliance were also a part of the project scope, which finished in the summer of 2025. The work needed to take into account the steep slope of where the bleachers were situated required additional grading and ensuring the new planks and understructure was secure prior to installing the upgrades.
This project exemplified the ongoing relationship built between FEC and its customers. It was a great compliment that the work performed by the FEC service department stood out, as the district reached out to FEC for a similar project six years later.

1. Outdoor Bleacher Modifications: American Aluminum Seating Company
The new bleacher modifications at Lake Local High School include:
- Install new aluminum angle frame structures to replace existing structure at visitor bleachers upon hillside
- Remove and re-use the existing aluminum walk planks, risers, and seats on the bleachers
- Replace the old skeleton structure with new aluminum structure and anchor with stainless steel anchors
- Re-install existing decking, riser and seat planks and guard rails
- New frames to be 6’ on center maximum span
- Added mid-aisle handrails and intermediate aisle steps
- Widing aisles to 48” as required to meet code compliance
